Urmston win big in Division 1, Fusion Aces are setting a strong pace in Division 2, Vine lose a division 3 game for the first time this season and Metros are motoring in Division 4.

Division 1

The Ammies consolidated a 7 point lead at the top of the table with a 5-2 defeat of the Volunteer, Victoria Withington drop to third after a close 4-3 defeat at neighbours Victoria Burnage, while St Anthonys move up to second with a solid 5-2 win at the Navigation. Urmston are fourth after a crushing 7-0 victory against Cringlewood A, a place above John Alker who claimed a 4-3 win over Royal Oak A.

Navigation 2 vs 5 St Anthonys B

St Anthonys B came away from The Navi with a convincing 5–2 victory in their first league meeting of the 2025 season. They also took the gallon 2–0 to round off a strong night on the road.

Martin Tyson got things rolling in style for the visitors in game 1, sweeping past Chris Stone 3–0 with six scores of 100+, a 67.3 average and a tidy 20-dart leg. Dave Hart followed up with another whitewash in game 2 against Gary Molyneux, firing in eight 100+ scores, a 15-darter and a classy 75.15 average to put the champions two up. The Saints were looking ominously on form, and Mike Shaw exemplified this in the third, landing nine 100+ scores, a 16 darter and averaging 86.71 as he beat Andy Kindred 3–0 to stretch the overall lead to 3-0.

With the match on the line, Navigations Mark Skelton took Alan Dawson to a last leg decider in game 4, but Dawson eventually got over the line 3–2 to secure the match for his side. Kev Kelly pulled one back with a solid 3–1 win over Kaine Goldie in game 5, before Callum Loose produced the standout performance for the home side, banging in a 15-dart leg, a superb 141 checkout, and nine scores of 100+, defeating Col Smith 3–1 and posting a winning average of 76.92.

But any hopes of another consolation point were shut down in game 7, where Sean Wilkinson wrapped things up with a 3–0 win over Michael Hopps, sealing the 5–2 win. Wilkinson’s effort included five 100+ scores, a 20-darter and a 100 checkout, rounding off a strong team display from the Saints.

Urmston 7 vs 0 Cringlewood A

Urmston SC delivered a ruthless performance at Moorside Road as they whitewashed Cringlewood A 7–0 in their Week 7 clash. Cringlewood at least took the gallon 2–1, but that was as good as it got for the visitors on a dominant night for the hosts.

Glynn Griffiths opened up with a comfortable 3–0 win over John Mulhern in game 1 before Harry Fitton edged a tight five-leg battle in game 2, averaging 60.76 with seven 100+ scores and a 20-dart leg to see off David Huddlestone, who hit 6 ton pluses, a 20 darter of his own and a 180 in defeat. Game 3 followed a similar script as Mason Gamble got the better of Alex Martin 3–1, notching five 100+ scores, a 180 and an 18-darter, and the match was secured as 9 ton plusses for Gaz Lane helped him claim game 4 with a 3–2 win over Ray Levesconte, whose efforts included six 100+ scores and an 18-dart leg in vain. Joe Kirk made it 5-0 with a 3–1 win against Phil Lauder, and USC were in no mood to let up in the sixth as Shaun Griffiths made short work of Hayley Mulhern in a 3–0 sweep, registering a 72.73 average and an 18-dart leg along the way.

Stephen Lye rounded things off in style with the performance of the night: a 77.74 average, seven scores of 100+ and a superb 107 checkout in a 3–0 win over Ellis Mulhern, who despite defeat fired in a 180 and averaged 65.39 himself. A clean sweep for USC, who barely put a foot wrong all night.

Victoria Burnage 4 vs 3 Victoria Withington

Victoria Burnage edged a back-and-forth derby clash in sweltering conditions at Burnage Lane, running out 4–3 winners in the main event, though it was the visitors from Withington who claimed the gallon 2–1.

Pete Evans got the home side off to the perfect start with a 3–0 win over Matthew Jepson in game 1, notching four 100+ scores and a 20-dart leg, while Ant Hargreaves Sr doubled the lead with a solid 3–1 victory over Toni Wieczorek, hitting five tons, a 21-darter and checking out with a 77 finish. Dylan Wimbury then made it 3–0, seeing me off 3–1 with five 100+ scores, and a 17-dart leg while also firing in the only 180 of the match.

Sean Edwards sparked a Withington fightback in game 4, producing a superb 77.74 average, five 100+ scores, a 17-dart leg and a 75 checkout to comfortably beat Andrew Day 3–0, and the comeback was truly on when Connor Wigley followed up with a tight 3–2 win over Steve Moane, hitting five tons to bring the scoreline to 3–2.

But any hopes of a full turnaround were dashed in game 6, where Tom Beatie’s 3–0 win over Paul Mitchell sealed the bonus points for Burnage.  With the game already lost, Terry Jepson grabbed another point in the final game for The Vic Withington, with a 19 darter in a 3-0 defeat of Tony Green.

Royal Oak A 3 vs 4 John Alker

John Alker edged a thriller at The Oak, coming from 3-1 behind to snatch a 4–3 win after earlier securing a 2–0 victory in the gallon as well.

The hosts got off to a bright start, with Ryan Crook securing a 3–1 win over John Greaves in game 1, but the sides were level after John Hawken edged a close one with Jordan Perry 3–2 helped six 100+ scores, a 20-darter. Luke Loveitt produced a sparkling performance in game 3 to put The Oak back in front with a clean 3–0 win over Andy Docker featuring five ton-plus scores, a 180, an 18-darter and finishing with a 76.42 average. The home side had the bit between their teeth and Pete Perry extended the lead to 3–1, hitting a 19 darter on the way to seeing off 180 hitting Gaz O’Donnell by 3 legs to 1.

But from there, the tide turned. Gaz Brickhill pulled one back for Alker in game 5 with a dominant 3–0 win over Alex Williams, landing five 100+ scores, while Kevin Acton followed suit in game 6, also winning 3–0 to bring the match level. With it all going down to the deciding seventh game, Gary Thompson held his nerve to complete the Alker comeback. A 3–0 win over Sharon Kirby featured six ton-plus scores, a 17-dart leg, and a 70 finish — sealing both the match and bonus points for John Alker in a pulsating finish.

Ammies Darts 5 vs 2 Volunteer

League leaders the Ammies claimed a 5-2 win, but were run close by a Volunteer side who pushed the former champions all the way in an entertaining match at Wythenshawe Amateurs FC. The Ammies also claimed the Gallon on the night, but were given a sign of whats to come as they were pushed all the way to a deciding leg.

The hosts wasted no time getting on top, as Ray Dore opened the night with a commanding 3–0 win over James Roberts, firing in six ton-plus scores and a 20-darter before Pete Watson followed up with another straight-legs win, beating Christopher Grinnell 3–0 with a 22-dart leg, though Grinnell played his part with five 100s in defeat.

Volunteer struck back through Tony Grinnell in game 3, who landed six tons and an 18-dart leg to beat Ewan Donegan 3–1, and feathers were ruffled soon after as The Vol levelled the match at 2–2 in game 4 thanks to Gary Williams, who took out Massive Mike Morrison 3–1 in a quality contest — both players averaging over 65 and each with six 100+ scores, with Williams producing a 17-dart leg while Morrison replied with a 19-darter of his own.

But from that point, Ammies took control. Paul Devine restored the lead in game 5, brushing aside Dan O’Donnell 3–0 with four tons, an 18-dart leg and a 93 finish, before Karl Cooper settled the match when he made it 4–2 with a nervy 3–2 win over Toni Williams, which included a 19-dart leg and a 180 – but Toni played her part with a solid 5 100+ scores to rattle the usually unflappable Coops.

Callum Nolan extended the winning margin further defeating Karl Bannister 3–2 in the final game of the night, landing a 16-darter and four tons, while Bannister responded with a 180. The Vol can take heart from a fine effort against the Ammies, and with performances like that they will no doubt start getting some wins under their belts.

Division 2

Fusion Aces beat Trafford Social 5-2 to make it 7 from 7 in the league, Broadheath Central remain their closest challengers, seven points behind after a thumping 6-1 win against Sale Excel. A 5-2 defeat at the Melville sees the Roebuck still searching for a first win of the season, Ashton-on-Mersey are fourth following a 5-2 win at home to the Bulls Head, while St Anthonys A move up the table to seventh after a 5-2 win over Carters Arms.

Ashton-on-Mersey CC 5 vs 2 Bulls Head

Ashton-on-Mersey CC returned to winning ways after last weeks KO Shield defeat to The Melville with a solid 5–2 home win over the Bulls Head, and also claimed the gallon 2–0 to round off a solid night at Ashton-on-Mersey Cricket Club.

Billy Dawson set the tone for the home side in game 1 beating Harry Simper 3–1, but Bulls Head struck back in game 2, with Steve Hazlehurst claiming their first point of the night via a 3–0 win over Chris Higson. Mark Robinson restored Ashton-on-Mersey lead in the third, winning a back and forth game 3–2 against Allan Simper, and the match swung heavily in the hosts’ favour from there on in. James Compton impressed in game 4 with a 3–0 win over Iain Fish, before Ashton skipper Will Radcliffe secured a win for his team with a 3-0 win over Alex Rydstrom, with four 100+ scores and a 21-dart leg.

Chris Chapman had a 19 darter and 4 ton plusses in game 6, but it wasn’t enough as Bo Bowman grabbed another point for the Bulls Head with a tidy 3–1 win, featuring a match-best 18-dart leg and an 80 checkout. With the score at 4-2 and the game already won, Stephen Orton rounded things off for Ashton with a 3–0 win over Rob Barber, landing three 100s, a 20-darter to put some gloss on a fine result for the home side.

Broadheath Central 6 vs 1 Sale Excel

Broadheath Central made it back-to-back league wins with a convincing 6–1 victory at home to Sale Excel, a win which sees them keep second place, seven points behind Fusion Aces at the top of Division 2. With a 2-1 win in the Gallon to boot, it was a good performance all round for the Altrincham side.

Brandon Lawley opened the night in dominant form for the hosts, sweeping past Hannah Tague 3–0 with six 100+ scores, a 20-darter and a 68.32 average, and Tom Beresford doubled the lead with a clean 3–0 win over Michael Watling, notching five tons and a 22-dart leg. Jordan Woodbridge made it 3–0 overall in game 3, hitting 4 ton plusses while edging out Ryan Potts 3–2 with Potts landing three 100+ scores of his own in defeat.

Sale Excel got on the board in game 4 through Jimmy Nolan, who beat Sam McCallister 3–1, but Broadheath hit back immediately  to wrap up the points when Leyton Jackson dispatched Peter Sage 3–1 in the fifth, producing an 18-dart leg and four tons in the process. Leighton Smith-Raynes made it 5-1 with a 3–0 win over Marvin Daniel, aided by four 100+ scores, and Dan Cross finished things off with a 3–1 win over Danny Chua in the seventh, registering five tons, a 24-dart leg to seal the 6–1 win.

St Anthonys A 5 vs 2 Carters Arms

St Anthonys A claimed their second win of the season with a valuable  5–2 home victory over The Carters Arms to move up to seventh place in Division 2, though it was the visitors who took the gallon 2–0 on the night.

Things didn’t start well for the home side, with Alan Farrar swept aside 3–0 by John Thierens Jnr in the opener. But the Saints hit back strongly, stringing together five consecutive wins to turn the match on its head. Shaun Gill levelled the scores with a 3–2 win over Gavin Halton, who fired in five tons in defeat, before Gary Molloy edged David Hughes in another five-leg scrap to put the hosts 2–1 ahead.

Dom Batty followed suit with another deciding leg win over Harry Mitchell in game 4 despite Mitchell registering a 105 checkout, and the bonus points were secured as Carl Paton brushed aside Martin Johnson 3–0 in the fifth. Ryan Bailey made it 5-1 with a 3–2 win over John Thierens Snr, but Carters grabbed a late consolation in game 7 through Dave Sills, who beat Ian Paton 3–2 in yet another decider, but the damage had long been done as St Anthonys wrapped up a valuable seven points in the league.

Melville 5 vs 2 Roebuck

Melville came out on top at home in their Week 7 Division 2 clash with Roebuck, taking the match 5–2. The gallon went the other way, with Roebuck claiming it 2–0, to maintain the remarkable feat of being bottom in the division table but top of the gallon!

Jon Powell opened with a 3–1 win over Hayden Reddy, landing four tons, an 86 checkout and the lowest leg of the match at 18 darts, but Ste Reddy hit back in game two for the visitors, beating Tom Powell 3–1. In game 3, Phil Wright made it 2–1 to the Roebuck with a 3–2 win over Bradley Hodgson, registering six 100+ scores and a 20 dart leg, but from there, Melville turned the match around.

Cam McFarlane won a close one 3–2 against Ben Westwood in game four to level the overall score at 2-2, and Gary Brisco soon gave The Melville the lead with a 3–0 result over Rick Kiel in game five, despite Kiel hitting the only maximum of the night. Paul Sambrook sealed the win for the hosts in game six, beating Chris Reddy 3–1 with five ton-plus scores, a 21-dart leg and an 80 checkout, and the Melville turned the screw further as Owen Powell closed out the night with a 3–0 win against Chris Haycock, which included a 20-dart leg.

Trafford SC 2 vs 5 Fusion Aces

Fusion Aces extended their lead at the top of Division 2 with a 5–2 win away at Trafford SC in Week 7. The gallon went to the hosts, who edged that contest 2–1, but the Aces did the damage where it counted, with the result sealed in game six.

Jake Neersoo opened with a battling 3–2 win over Darren Wood to give Trafford the early lead, with both players notching five ton-plus scores, but from there the visitors found their rhythm. Alex Wood levelled with a 3–0 win in game two despite four ton plus scores from opponent Alex Buckley, and Andy Brownhill followed that with 6 ton plus scores in a 3-0 win over Andrew Wood in game 4.

Andrew Davies responded for the home side, hitting a 180, and a 22-dart leg in a 3–1 win over Chris Cordingley in game four, but Fusion were relentless from that point on. Andy McCormack hit a 19 darter while sealing a 3–0 win against Cameron King in game 5 to make it 3-2,  before Nigel Beeton’s sharp 18-darter and 69.36 average helped him to a 3-0 win over Jordan Fry to clinch the match for Fusion Aces in game six.

Dave Wood put the gloss on the result with another 3–0 win in the final game, closing with a 20-dart leg and a 66.30 to round off a strong away performance from Fusion Aces.

Division 3

The Vine went into this week with a beefy 16 point lead after only six games played, but saw that lead cut to 11 after suffering a first league defeat of the season, a 5-2 loss at the hands of second placed Buck Inn-eers who have a game in hand on their opponents. The Dog & Partridge returned to action with a comprehensive 6-1 win over The Horseshoe which moves them up to third, and the Jolly Butcher’s game with Royal Oak B has been postponed until August.

Dog & Partridge 6 vs 1 Horseshoe

Dog & Partridge cruised to a 6–1 home win over the Horseshoe, avenging a narrow 4–3 victory in their last meeting. They also edged the gallon game 2–1 to take full bragging rights on the night.

The visitors actually struck first, with Oscar Coutts edging out Dominic Powell 2–1 in game one, but that would be as good as it got for the Horseshoe as the Dog rattled off six straight games to storm to victory. Chris Conduit levelled things up with a comfortable 2–0 win over George Moss in game two, while Elliot Wynne backed that up with another whitewash in the third, dispatching Josh McQuillan.

Game four saw Paul Woods extend the lead with a 2–0 success over Karl Jones, before Dan Buckley clinched the match with an 85 finish during a 2–0 win in game five over Rob Moss. Tom Spillane then added gloss to the scoreline with a 2–0 win in game six against Ben Harrington, and claimed a 100 checkout  – the highest finish of the match. Graham Beech wrapped up a strong performance for The Dog with a 2–0 win in the final game of the night over Kieran Aherne.

Bent Brook 7 vs 0 Old Market Tavern

After last weeks first win of the season, The Old Market Tavern were brought crashing down to earth against an on-song Bent Brook side who dished out a ruthless 7–0 whitewash at home. The Tavern at least grabbed the gallon game 2–1, but the result in the league fixture will sting a little, with only two legs won on the night.

Aaron Millington opened the floodgates with a 2–0 win in game one, clocking three 100+ scores and finishing with a 75 checkout, and Alex Morton followed up with a dominant display in game two, firing in a 21 darter, a 100 finish and a 72 average — the highest of the night. Connor O’Toole made it 3–0 with a 2–0 victory over Ian Fensome, before game four saw Anthony Coleman extend the lead further with a straight-legs win over Mandy Haycocks to seal the match with only four games played and no legs lost for the home side.

In game five Jake Proctor hit a 19 darter on the way to beating Nathan Potts 2–1, though Potts responded with a 180 and four 100+ visits of his own in a solid performance. The Brook were relentless, and Sean Digan took game six 2–1 against Howard Haycocks, notching four 100+ scores, before Paul Charnock wrapped things up with a solid 2–0 win over Angela Haycocks.

Buck Inn-eers 5 vs 2 Vine Inn

The Vine went into this fixure in ominous form with a 16 point lead at the top of the table over their opponents in second place, so anything but a win for the Bucks would have been a big blow in the title battle. The Buck Inn-eers rose to the occasion and made it back-to-back wins against the Vine with a 5–2 victory at home, clinching the match with a clean sweep in the first four games before trading blows in the final stretch. They also took the gallon 2–0 to complete a strong night overall.

Declan Law set the tone for the home side with a 2–0 win against Billy Sanders in game one, before captain Joshua Craven then made it 2–0 after edging past Kyran Eyes 2–1. George Banner added another point in game three, seeing off Ryan Sanders in 3 straight legs, and James Golds sealed the quickfire team win in game four with a 2–1 result over James Garside.

The Vine’s Charlie Sanders pulled one back in game five with a 2–1 win against Rick Hindle, racking up three 100+ scores, a 21 darter and a 74 checkout, but Matt Kershaw restored the Buck’s momentum in game six by making it 5-1 with a 2–0 win over Geoff Sanders, hitting a 22-darter and posting a 63.96 average.

The final word went to Vine’s Dave Goulden, who wrapped up game seven with a commanding 2–0 win against James Abbey. Goulden fired in three 100+ scores and a 23-dart leg, finishing with the highest average of the match at 65.35.

Division 4

Metros Sports continued their dream start to the league as a 5-2 defeat of bottom placed Old Plough represented a sixth straight win, moving them 9 points clear at the top of Division 4. Wythenshawe move ominously into second with a 6-1 win over Burst, St Anthonys C register a second win of the season with a 4-3 victory against Garricks Head, while Brooklands Tap also win 4-3 against Fusion Sports.

Fusion Sports 3 vs 4 Brooklands Tap

Brooklands Tap edged a close-fought encounter away at Fusion Sports, sealing the win in game six to take the match 4–3 despite dropping the gallon 2–1. It was a night of tight contests, with five of the seven games going the distance.

The Tap took the opening two games, both by 2–1 scorelines. Callum Cummins overcame Michael McNeil, while Gerard Gornall saw off Martin Long — the latter game featuring an 80 checkout from Long in defeat. Fusion struck back through Matthew Barnes, who edged past Tristan Cullen 2–1, racking up six 100+ scores, and Daniel Long levelled the match at 2–2 with a 2–0 win over Luke Cummins in game four.  Michael Hamnett nudged Brooklands back ahead with a 2–1 win in game five over Andrew Mills, and Jamie Williams delivered the decisive blow in game six, hitting 4 ton plus scores while dispatching Lewis Walker 2–0 to clinch the match for the Tap. Fusion’s Stephen Barnes did pull one back in game seven, producing a standout 124 checkout — the highest of the night — and averaging 59.0 in a 2–1 win over Eddie Clare.

St Anthonys C 4 vs 3 Garricks Head

St Anthonys C edged a tense affair at home to Garricks Head, recovering from 3–2 down to win the last two games and take the match 4–3. The visitors claimed the gallon 2–1, but it was the hosts who dug deep when it mattered.

Jimmy Starr got the ball rolling in game one with a commanding 2–0 win over Lex Davies, firing in four 100+ scores and checking out in 20 darts, finishing up with a 66.8 average in a classy performance. Garricks hit back swiftly in game two as Daryl Patrick levelled the match, beating Michael Horrocks in 2 straight legs with a 26-dart finish and a match average of 57.81.

Game three saw St Anthonys regain the lead, with Steve Williams edging Connor Trueman 2–1 in a tight contest, but again Garricks responded, this time taking back-to-back wins as Lucas Entwistle beat Dan Tierney 2–0 in game four  and Dylan Bell followed up in game five with a 2–1 win over Eddie Williamson – both players recording a pair of ton-plus scores.

That left the visitors 3–2 up and needing one more to clinch the match — but St Anthonys weren’t done. Ryan Horrocks dug deep to see off Jake Fairhurst 2–0 in game six, before Dale Holt sealed the comeback in game seven with a 2–1 win against Hayden Tiplady.

Old Plough 2 vs 5 Metros Sports

Metros Sports continued their strong form with a 5–2 win away at Old Plough, turning the match around after trailing 2–1 to claim the final four games. They also picked up the gallon 2–0 to round off a strong performance on the road.

The visitors struck first in game one, as Wayne Billing edged out Lewis Gould 2–1 in a close contest, but Old Plough hit back with two quick wins: Nick Brown levelled things up in game two with a 2-0 win over Nicky Bray, and Stephen Senior followed up with a 2–0 win in game three against Harry Wilson, both players registering three 100+ scores and Stephen with a 60 finish and a tidy 20-dart leg.

But from that point on, it was all Metros. Gareth Cooke levelled the match at 2-2 in game four with a 2–0 win over Paul Fent, before Andrew Lewis put the visitors ahead  with a clean 2–0 win over Stephen Wilcox, hitting a 24-dart leg and three ton-plus scores. Mike Bray sealed the match for Metros in Game 6 with 3 ton plusses and a 21-darter during a 2–0 win over Matt Melling.In the final game, Jack Yates added a bit of gloss with a 2–1 win against Reece Newell, despite Newell’s  three 100+ scores in defeat.

Wythenshawe CSC 6 vs 1 Burst

Wythenshawe CSC delivered a dominant display at home, brushing aside Burst 6–1 with five of their six wins coming in straight legs, and while Burst took the gallon 2–1 to avoid a complete whitewash they were outgunned for most of the night.

Wythenshawe’s Dave Wilson hit a 180 while opening the scoring with a 2–0 win over Mark Leather, and teammate Dave Massey doubled his side’s lead in game two by beating Marc Tancock 2–0. Shane Lowe soon made it 3–0 in game three with a 2–0 victory over Ray Townhill, hitting a 180 and a pair of ton-plus scores along the way, and the match was over as a contest in game four as Mandy Smith got the better of McKenzie Evans by two legs to one to seal the win for her team.

Jimmy Murphy gave the visitors something to shout about with a 2-0 defeat of Paul Brankin in game 5, but Wythenshawe captain David Peploe restored the home side’s momentum in game six with a 2–0 win against Lindsay Rice. In the final game of the night Martin Power wrapped up the 6-1 win for Wythenshawe with a comfortable 2-0 win over Danny Bannister.
