Due to the (arguably at the time) unexpected progress of The Three Lions in Euro 2024, Week 1 of The South Manchester Darts League was hit by a wave of patriotism as nearly every team expressed a wish to postpone their fixtures in favour of watching England’s Quarter Final with Switzerland. While the majority of games are now scheduled for 18th September, all division 3 games are yet to be confirmed due to the relative lack of free weeks in that division.
Division 1
With ten teams in Division 1 this season, and 12 in Division 3, there are a couple of free weeks available in September – all games in Division 1 have been rescheduled for either the 18th or 25th. See each game for details.

Division 3
An influx of new team this season has seen the top two divisions extended to ten teams, while division 3 is now a whopping 12. As such, there isnt a great deal of wiggle room in the Division 3 fixture list, so all games are yet to have a rescheduled date. Following the first round of the SMD Knockout Shield, divison 3 week 1 fixtures will be reassessed and where both teams are no longer in the cup competitions, the week 1 fixture will be rescheduled for an appropriate cup week. If any Division 3 teams have an extended run in either competition, then the fixture will be played at the end of the season. Any teams wishing to play their week 1 fixture on a different day – just let us know when it will be played by messaging the committee via the Facebook group, or by emailing [email protected].

So the darts gods gave me a nice and easy write-up for week 1 fixtures (Episode 1). And although games were postponed, England actually won to make it all worthwhile. Not just that, they only then went and won the semi against the Netherlands, meaning that tomorrow (Sunday 14th July) they face the mighty Spain for a place in history and to finally give credence to Skinner and Baddiel’s groundhog day like claim of “It’s coming home”, which we’ve all endured since 1996. Anyone born after then – I dont want to know.
So its onto week 2 in all divisions with the fixtures on 17th July representing the first darts thrown in anger in the 2024-25 league season. Hopefully no darts actually thrown in actual ‘anger’ by the way, theres probably a rule for that.
