The SMD league side Cringlewood A got off to a flying start in the final, winning the first three games without reply. Mike Morrison got the show on the road with a three legs to nil victory against Lee Darcey, Alex Martin then won a last-leg decider in game two to take a 3-2 win over Darren Wood, before Luke Mulhern took out Dan Cross by 3 legs to 1.
Broadheath, as runaway winners of this year’s Kenny Tong Division 1 were in no mood to give up and showed their class to come storming back, with wins for Andy McCormack, a 3-0 victor over Wayne Proud, and Dave Wood with a solid 3-1 win over Ray Levesconte pulling the overall score back to 3-2.
That was to be the end of the comeback however, as Rob Lauder, continuing his run of sparkling form this season, made it 4-2 to the Cringlewood A with a comfortable 3-0 win over Broadheath captain Jonjo Devon, Rob also claiming the Shield for his side along the way.
The final game between Shane Crellin and Liane Lauder, with the trophy already won, finished 3-2 in Shane’s favour, giving the match a final scoreline of 4-3 to the Cringlewood A.
