Wythenshawe CSC 6 – 1 Burst
Wythenshawe CSC delivered a dominant display at home, brushing aside Burst 6–1 with five of their six wins coming in straight legs, and while Burst took the gallon 2–1 to avoid a complete whitewash they were outgunned for most of the night.
Wythenshawe’s Dave Wilson hit a 180 while opening the scoring with a 2–0 win over Mark Leather, and teammate Dave Massey doubled his side’s lead in game two by beating Marc Tancock 2–0. Shane Lowe soon made it 3–0 in game three with a 2–0 victory over Ray Townhill, hitting a 180 and a pair of ton-plus scores along the way, and the match was over as a contest in game four as Mandy Smith got the better of McKenzie Evans by two legs to one to seal the win for her team.
Jimmy Murphy gave the visitors something to shout about with a 2-0 defeat of Paul Brankin in game 5, but Wythenshawe captain David Peploe restored the home side’s momentum in game six with a 2–0 win against Lindsay Rice. In the final game of the night Martin Power wrapped up the 6-1 win for Wythenshawe with a comfortable 2-0 win over Danny Bannister.
