Urmston SC came flying out of the blocks to lead 4–0 before John Alker mounted a spirited late fightback to claim 3 consolation points, but the home side had already done enough to claim a 4–3 win.
Stephen Lye set the tone in the opener with a 3–0 win over Simon Jennings, firing in four ton‑pluses on his way before Dave Tong then held his nerve in the second game, taking it 3–2 against Chris Wormald with a 180 hit by each each player.
Mason Gamble then stormed through game three, storming past Kevin Acton 3–0 with a 92 checkout, four ton‑pluses and a tidy 76.4 average. Brandon Gamble followed that with a solid 3–0 against Fynn Jennings to make it 4–0 on the night and it was looking ominous for the visitors.
John Alker, though, refused to fold and still managed to salvage three points from the match in the remaining games. Gary Thompson dug in for a 3–2 win over Gaz Lane, Gaz O’Donnell followed with a 3–1 victory against 180 hitting Mark Colgan, and John Hawken produced a brilliant 13‑dart leg and a 70.1 average to beat Harry Fitton 3–1.
