Matches between the Melville and Trafford SC are somewhat of a local derby, and aside from the last meeting which ended in a 6-1 Melville win at home, the contests are usually tight 4-3 affairs. So it was to be again, as the visitors took a 3-1 lead prior to a mid-match wobble, finally nicking it in the decider. Melville also took the gallon 2–0 to cap off a decent performance all round.

Game 1 went the distance as Melville’s Gary Brisco edged past Alex Buckley 3–2 with the help of six ton plusses,before game 2 saw Trafford Captain Jake Neersoo level the scores when beating Jake Powell 3–2. Jon Powell hit an 18 darter while restoring the lead for Melville in Game 3 with a sharp 3–1 win over Jordan Fry, in what looks like a good quality game with both players smashing in six tons each.

Owen Powell secured another one for the visitors, making the score 3–1 to Melville with a 3–2 win against Andrew Wood in Game 4, but Trafford weren’t done yet as Andrew Davies pulled one back for the hosts with a 3–0 win over Joe McCracken in Game 5, before Zac Nichols levelled it at 3–3, beating Cam McFarlane in straight legs.

With it all square going into the final game, Paul Sambrook stepped up to seal it for Melville, comfortably seeing off Cameron King 3–0 to claim the win and the bonus points.
