St Anthonys A claimed their second win of the season with a valuable 5–2 home victory over The Carters Arms to move up to seventh place in Division 2, though it was the visitors who took the gallon 2–0 on the night.
Things didn’t start well for the home side, with Alan Farrar swept aside 3–0 by John Thierens Jnr in the opener. But the Saints hit back strongly, stringing together five consecutive wins to turn the match on its head. Shaun Gill levelled the scores with a 3–2 win over Gavin Halton, who fired in five tons in defeat, before Gary Molloy edged David Hughes in another five-leg scrap to put the hosts 2–1 ahead.
Dom Batty followed suit with another deciding leg win over Harry Mitchell in game 4 despite Mitchell registering a 105 checkout, and the bonus points were secured as Carl Paton brushed aside Martin Johnson 3–0 in the fifth. Ryan Bailey made it 5-1 with a 3–2 win over John Thierens Snr, but Carters grabbed a late consolation in game 7 through Dave Sills, who beat Ian Paton 3–2 in yet another decider, but the damage had long been done as St Anthonys wrapped up a valuable seven points in the league.
