Old Market Tavern 2 – 5 Horseshoe

Horseshoe picked up their first win of the new season after a solid 5-2 win against The Old Market Tavern, and also claimed the gallon 2-1 as they got their season up and running. OMT fell to a third successive defeat but can consider themselves unlucky to have lost three of the games in deciding legs.

Game one saw Kieran Chapman taking on Les Potts in a game that went the full three legs. Potts threw three tons and landed a 21-dart leg on the way to a tidy 56.71 average, but it was Chapman who edged it 2-1 with four 100+ scores on the way to a 2-1 win.

George Moss made it 2-0 in game two with a solid straight legs win over Sally Corfield, producing a 28-dart leg and a 47.71 average, while in game three Rob Moss followed suit, overcoming Emily Haycocks 2-0 with a brace of tons and a neat 27-dart leg of his own.

The Tavern finally got off the mark in game four when Nathan Potts beat Josh McQuillan 2-1 to make it 3-1 overall, but in the fifth game Nathan Potts took a 2-0 win over Karl Jones to stretch the visitors’ lead to 4-1 and the bonus points were secured.

Richard Haycocks put up a decent fight in game six with two tons and a 24-dart leg, but Oscar Coutts had the final say, pinning a ton and coming through 2-1 to extend the lead further to 5-1, but  OMT’s Steven Foster finished the night on a positive for the home side, getting past Ryan Murphy 2-1 in game seven to salvage a second point and keep the result to 5-2.
