Melville started the night brightly, taking the gallon 2–1, but Fusion Aces, who won 5-2 in the week 8 meeting between these sides, once again proved the stronger in the main event with a 4–3 win sealed in the final game of the night.
Game 1 went the way of the visitors as Andy McCormack produced six tons, an 18-darter and an 88 finish in a 3–1 win over Cam McFarlane, but Melville responded in game 2 with Owen Powell in fine form, reeling off six tons, a 104 checkout and an 18-darter in a 3–0 win against Dave Wood.
Fusion regained the lead in game 3 when Andy Brownhill beat Paul Sambrook 3–0 with a 67.29 average featuring four tons and a 21-darter, but the Melville drew level when Jon Powell made it 2–2 overall in game 4, overcoming Iris Bannister 3–0 with five tons.
Dennis Hand nudged Fusion back in front for a third time in game 5, winning 3–0 over Joe McCracken with six tons, while game 6 saw Gary Brisco keep the contest alive for Melville, landing seven tons and a 21-darter in a 3–1 win against Nigel Beeton, though Beeton did reply with five tons, a 19 darter and a 180.
It all came down to game 7, and Geoff Talbot sealed it for the visitors, his eight tons and a 20-dart leg enough to secure a 3–1 victory over Jake Powell and confirm a 4–3 win for the Aces.
