The Aces were relentless from the off, racking up six consecutive singles wins before Sale salvaged a late point in the final game.

Dave Wood opened the account with a tidy 3–0 win over Peter Sage, and the pressure didn’t let up in Game 2 as Andy Brownhill produced the highest average of the night (57.39) to see off Andy Cheetham, who still impressed in defeat with four 100+ scores and a 53.52 average.

Game 3 belonged to Andy McCormack, who was in top gear as he rattled in six 100+ scores and a 17-dart leg — the quickest of the night — during his 3–0 win over Danny Chua. Game 6 saw Darren Wood add to the tally further with a steady 3–1 win over Jimmy Nolan, leaving the home side 6–0 up and cruising. The whitewash was averted however as Hannah Tague restored a touch of pride for Sale Excel in Game 7, sealing a deserved 3–2 victory over Alex Wood that included a tidy 24-dart leg and the visitors’ top finish of the night — a composed 65 checkout.

With both the singles and the gallon going Fusion’s way, it was a performance that sends a clear message to the rest of the division.
