Ashton-on-Mersey CC 6-1 Sale Excelsior
Ashton-on-Mersey produced a dominant performance to sweep past Sale Excel 6–1, backing up their week‑8 victory with an even stronger showing at home. Sale did start the night off well with a 2-0 win in the gallon, and went ahead after game 1 of the league fixture, but after that it was a dominant Ashton performance which keeps them right in the promotion mix in Division 2.
Sale’s opener came courtesy of Ryan Potts, who edged a close first game 3–2 against James Compton, but from there the hosts took charge. Mike Buckley levelled with a 3–0 win over Marvin Daniel, before Will Radcliffe followed up by seeing off Peter Sage 3-0 with a 171 score along the way.
Mark Robinson kept the momentum rolling with a 3–1 success over Hannah Tague, and Kian Pearce secured the bonus points for the hosts, firing in a maximum and five ton‑pluses on the way to a 3–0 win over Warren McCoubrey to make it 4-1.
Chris Chapman impressed in game six, sweeping aside Pete Foxley 3–0 and notching six ton‑pluses with a 64.4 average, and Stephen Orton completed the rout in the final game with a 3–0 victory over Danny Chua.
