Ashton-on-Mersey CC returned to winning ways after last weeks KO Shield defeat to The Melville with a solid 5–2 home win over the Bulls Head, and also claimed the gallon 2–0 to round off a solid night at Ashton-on-Mersey Cricket Club.
Billy Dawson set the tone for the home side in game 1 beating Harry Simper 3–1, but Bulls Head struck back in game 2, with Steve Hazlehurst claiming their first point of the night via a 3–0 win over Chris Higson. Mark Robinson restored Ashton-on-Mersey lead in the third, winning a back and forth game 3–2 against Allan Simper, and the match swung heavily in the hosts’ favour from there on in. James Compton impressed in game 4 with a 3–0 win over Iain Fish, before Ashton skipper Will Radcliffe secured a win for his team with a 3-0 win over Alex Rydstrom, with four 100+ scores and a 21-dart leg.
Chris Chapman had a 19 darter and 4 ton plusses in game 6, but it wasn’t enough as Bo Bowman grabbed another point for the Bulls Head with a tidy 3–1 win, featuring a match-best 18-dart leg and an 80 checkout. With the score at 4-2 and the game already won, Stephen Orton rounded things off for Ashton with a 3–0 win over Rob Barber, landing three 100s, a 20-darter to put some gloss on a fine result for the home side.
