Division 1
With the Ammies having a week off, unbeaten St Anthonys B took the chance the reduce their lead at the top of Division 1 to just one point with a 4-3 defeat of Urmston SC, and the Saints still have a game in hand over the leaders. Victoria Withington retain third spot just five points behind the Ammies after a 5-2 win against the Royal Oak A, the John Alker are four points further back in fourth after a big 6-1 home win against Cringlewood A, and the Vic Burnage are sixth, but just eight points off third after a hard fought 4-3 win against the Volunteer.

St Anthonys B 4 vs 3 Urmston SC
Urmston came out on top in the gallon with a 2–0 win, but it was St Anthonys B who claimed the league fixture, clinching the match 4–3 after a blistering start saw them home and dry after the first four games of the night. Credit to Urmston though, who fought back to win the final three games to ensure they took 3 points from the game. It was the second time in three games that the Saints had claimed a 4-3 win over Urmston, with the sides having played each other just two weeks previously.
With the Ammies not playing this week, St Anthonys B have effectively played one of the two games in hand they held, and now sit one point behind the Ammies in second place but with another game in hand yet to play. Urmston sit fifth in what has been an impressive first season in Division 1 so far – as shown by running the reigning champions close in narrow 4-3 defeats while also claiming that statement 4-3 win against the Ammies in between.
Game 1 set the tone as the home side’s Oliver Clarke put in a superb shift when whitewashing Mark Colgan 3–0 – Clarke with six 100+ scores, a tidy 110 finish and a 17-darter, finishing with a classy 80.52 average. Martin Tyson doubled the lead in game 2, with another 3–0 scoreline against Brandon Gamble, before game 3 saw Dave Hart make it 3-0 overall while notching the first 180 of the night as he got the better of Dave Tong 3–1.
Sean Wilkinson made it four on the bounce in game 4, with with seven tons helping him to see off Joe Kirk 3–1 and seal the win for St Anthonys.
Urmston have proved a strong side this season and rallied from there, Gaz Lane getting them on the board with a fine 3–0 win over Rich Davies in game 5, before Stephen Lye edged a nervy 3–2 against Kaine Goldie in game 6, firing five 100s and a 20-dart leg, despite Kaine hitting 6 tons and a 19 darter in defeat. The final game of the night went the distance too, as Mason Gamble matched Col Smith dart-for-dart and eventually took a last leg decider to win 3–2. Both men hit eight tons and an 18 darter each, but it was the Urmston man who got over the line with an 80 checkout and 18-dart leg.
St Anthonys B are in action next week (16th July) with a an intruiging KO Cup last 16 fixture against unbeaten Division 2 leaders Fusion Aces, while Urmston also have a KO Cup fixture at home to Division 2’s Bulls Head.
John Alker 6 vs 1 Cringlewood A
The narrow 4-3 winning margin for the John Alker in the last fixture for each of these teams was a distant memory, as the reverse fixture proved to be one way traffic for the home side, who overcame the loss of the first game to power through the following six to claim a big win, backed up by a 2-0 win in the gallon.
Cringlewoods Rob Lauder opened the night in fine form, sweeping aside Chris Wormald 3–0 in Game 1 and doing so with five tons, an 18 darter and a slick 120 finish, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
In the battle of the veterans, Gary Thompson levelled things up with a straightforward 3–0 over Phil Lauder in Game 2, before John Hawken put the Alker in front with a 16 darter during a 3–2 win over Ellis Mulhern. Ellis played well in defeat, firing in seven 100s and the only 180 of the night but Hawken had 5 ton plusses of his own and did enough in the deciding leg to claim the win.
From there, the hosts never looked back. James Munro edged past David Huddlestone 3–2 in Game 4, before Ian Moore breezed past Mark Heaton 3-0 to make it 4–1 in game 5 and secure the match for the Alker.
Kyle Wands added some gloss in Game 6 with five tons and a 16-dart leg during a 3–0 win against John Mulhern, and Mike Nolan rounded off a fine home victory with a 3–1 win against Alex Martin, who still managed to notch four 100s and a tidy 19-darter in defeat.
Next up for the Alker is an all Division 1 KO Cup game against the Navigation, while the Cringlewood A have already played their KO Cup game and will have a week off before a game against Victoria Burnage on 23rd July.
Victoria Withington 5 vs 2 Royal Oak A
Victoria Withington retained third place in Division 1 with a 5–2 win over Royal Oak A, making it back-to-back wins over the Oak after their whitewash victory a fortnight earlier. The Vic also took a 2-0 victory in the Gallon to stay top of that table
Royal Oak put paid to any worries of another whitewash by winning the first two games of the night, captain Tony Kirby getting the better of Stacey Cosby 3–1 in Game 1, before birthday boy Steve Lawless claimed a 3-1 win over Terry Jepson in game 2 with both players hitting a maximum.
From there on in the Vic turned the screw. Sean Edwards took Game 3 in straight legs against Luke Loveitt, aided by a tidy 16-dart leg, I levelled the match in game 4 with a 3-1 win against Alex Williams, and in game 5 Matthew Jepson followed up with a clinical 3–0 win over Sharon Kirby to put the Vic ahead for the first time.
Game 6 saw Vic’s Connor Wigley take on Pete Perry – with Connor looking to secure the team win, and Pete trying to send the match into a deciding game. A real back and forth encounter ensued with Pete leading twice before Connor took the final two legs to seal the bonus points for the Vic. Both men hit six or more tons, with Wigley finishing on a 72 and Perry firing in the highest checkout of the match with a 79 finish.
With the pressure off, Vic landlord Paul Mitchell wrapped things up in Game 7, hitting six tons during a 3-1 defeat of Chris Pender.
The Vic played their KO Cup fixture with Cringlewood A earlier in the month, when a 4-3 last gasp win sent them through to the last 8, so we’ll have a week off before a trip to league leaders the Ammies on the 23rd. Royal Oak A will face Division 3’s Old Market Tavern in the KO Shield last 16 this coming wednesday.
Volunteer 3 vs 4 Victoria Burnage
Volunteer claimed the gallon and took a 2–0 lead in the singles, but Victoria Burnage proved their resilience, turning things around to notch a 4–3 away win to complete the league double over their opponents, after winning by the same scoreline at home just two weeks ago.
Volunteer captain Gary Williams got things underway for the hosts with a 3–0 win over Tom Beattie, before his daughter Toni made it two nil with a 3–2 win over Ant Hargreaves Sr in Game 2. Shane Crellin got the visitors on the scoreboard at the third attempt with 5 ton plus scores in a solid 3-1 win over James Roberts, and the sides were level after game four when Andrew Day took a 3-1 victory of his own against Gary Grayson.
The Vic took the lead for the first time after Tony Green claimed 5 tons during another 3-1 win for his side over Karl Bannister, but the sides were all square once again after game six following a fine performance from Chris Grinnell, who hit a 14 darter and a 66.83 average during an impressive 3-1 win against Dylan Wimbury, handing the Vic man only his second defeat of the season.
That left it to Game 7, where Pete Evans and Volunteer’s Tony Grinnell faced off to determine the winning team. It was Evans who delivered for Vic B with an imperious 3–0 win to seal the match, hitting an 18 darter and a 73.92 average to cloaim the game in style.
Next up for both teams is the KO Shield last 16, with Volunteer facing the Melville of Division 2, and the Vic Burnage face the Bent Brook.
Division 2
Fusion Aces retain their perfect record this season and are now 9 points clear at the top of the table after a 6-1 win against St Anthonys A. Ashton-on-Mersey are second after a 5-2 win at bottom placed Roebuck, just a point ahead of third placed Broadheath Central who claimed a close 4-3 win at the Carters Arms. The Melville are a bit further back in fourth ten points off second but with a game in hand so are handily placed for whats looking like a battle for second place between themselves, Ashton and Broadheath. In the weeks other game Sale Excel are now fifth after a 4-3 win against Bulls Head, but with a 13 point gap to fourth.

Fusion Aces 6 vs 1 St Anthonys A
There doesnt seem to be any letting up from the Division 2 leaders as Fusion Aces made it ten from ten in the league, and two from two against St Anthonys A with a repeat of their 6–1 win from a fortnight ago — this time on home turf at Fusion Sports, with a win in the gallon to boot.
Similarly to the previous game, Andy Brownhill kicked things off in style with a 3–1 win over a Paton – Mark this time – firing in his second maimum of the season so far, while in game 2’s battle of the captains, Dave Wood made it 2–0 for Fusion with a steady 3–1 over Gary Molloy.
It was soon 3-0 after Fusion’s Andy McCormack got the better of Ian Paton by 3 legs to nil, and after the returning Geoff Talbot finally made an appearance outside the bottom divsion with a 3-1 defeat of Dom Batty in Game 4, the leaders had secured the win and the bonus points.
Carl Paton stopped the rot for the visitors hitting an impressive six tons during a 3–1 win over Darren Wood in Game 5, but Iris Bannister restored the four-game cushion for the Aces with a 3–1 win over Alan Farrar in Game 6. With the match won at 5-1, it was left to Nigel Beeton to round off a strong night for the home side and he did just that, delivering a 3–1 victory against Shaun Gill, assisted by six tons, a 20 darter and a 68.40 average.
The Saints will be glad to see the back of the Division leaders, and can look forward to next weeks KO Shield last 16 fixture against Division 3’s Horseshoe, while the Division 2 leaders will be given their sternest test of their credentials so far with a a KO Cup last-16 fixture against another team of Saints – the reigning and (so far this season) undefeated Division 1 champions St Anthonys B.
Trafford SC 3 vs 4 Melville
Matches between the Melville and Trafford SC are somewhat of a local derby, and aside from the last meeting which ended in a 6-1 Melville win at home, the contests are usually tight 4-3 affairs. So it was to be again, as the visitors took a 3-1 lead prior to a mid-match wobble, finally nicking it in the decider. Melville also took the gallon 2–0 to cap off a decent performance all round.
Game 1 went the distance as Melville’s Gary Brisco edged past Alex Buckley 3–2 with the help of six ton plusses, before game 2 saw Trafford Captain Jake Neersoo level the scores when beating Jake Powell 3–2. Jon Powell hit an 18 darter while restoring the lead for Melville in Game 3 with a sharp 3–1 win over Jordan Fry, in what looks like a good quality game with both players smashing in six tons each.
Owen Powell secured another one for the visitors, making the score 3–1 to Melville with a 3–2 win against Andrew Wood in Game 4, but Trafford weren’t done yet as Andrew Davies pulled one back for the hosts with a 3–0 win over Joe McCracken in Game 5, before Zac Nichols levelled it at 3–3, beating Cam McFarlane in straight legs.
With it all square going into the final game, Paul Sambrook stepped up to seal it for Melville, comfortably seeing off Cameron King 3–0 to claim the win and the bonus points.
Next up for each side, The Melville face Division 1’s Volunteer in the KO Shield, while Trafford face a KO Cup Last 16 game with Division 3 leaders the Buck Inn-eers.
Roebuck 2 vs 5 Ashton-on-Mersey CC
Ashton-on-Mersey CC tightened their grip on the second automatic promotion spot in Division 2 after a solid 5-2 win against bottom placed Roebuck, who despite winning the gallon, were unable to build on last weeks first league win of the season.
Kian Pearce put the visitors one up with four ton plus scores on the way to a 3–1 win over Phil Wright, but Rick Kiel soon levelled it with a 3–0 win against Ian Winter in Game 2. Mike Buckley reclaimed the lead for Ashton in Game 3 with a 180 during a 3–1 win against Hayden Reddy and Chris Chapman then extended the lead to 3-1, with a 3-1 win in a classy performance against Ste Reddy which saw him claim eight tons and a 19-dart leg to finish on a solid 67.06 average.

With the game in the bag, Ashton’s Billy Dawson hit 5 100+ scores as he extended the lead to 5-1 with a 3–1 win over Finn Harrison, and in the final game of the night the Roebuck pulled one back as Captain Chris Haycock edged past fellow skipper Will Radcliffe 3–2. Radcliffe hit five tons and a 180, but it wasn’t enough to deny the hosts a consolation point.
The Roebuck will hope to get back to winning ways next week with a KO Shield fixture against Royal Oak B of Division 3, while Ashton will have a week off before their next league fixture against Sale Excel on the 23rd.
Sale Excel 4 vs 3 Bulls Head
Sale Excel edged a hard-fought contest against Bulls Head 4–3 at the Excelsior, repeating the narrow scoreline from a fortnight ago, and with the added bonus of a 2–0 gallon win. These two promoted sides have had a reasonable time of it in Division 2, both clear of the relegation zone, but Sale’s two 4-3 victorys in the sides’ recent fixtures sees them in fifth place with the Bulls five points behind in seventh.
Warren McCoubrey got the hosts underway in Game 1 with a 3–0 win over Harry Simper, while Danny Chua doubled the lead, seeing off Allan Simper 3–1, while registering four tons and a 91 finish along the way.
Rob Barber brought the visitors back into it in Game 3 with a strong 3–0 win over Peter Sage, but Jimmy Nolan made it 3–1 to restore the two game cushion for the Excel in Game 4, beating Steve Hazlehurst 3–1.
Bo Bowman kept the Bulls Head in the contest with a 3–1 win over Hannah Tague in Game 5, but there was no comeback to be had as Ryan Potts answered back for Sale with a 3–1 win against Mark Jepson. Potts notched four tons; Jepson replied with three of his own.
That left it 4–2 and out of reach, but Bulls Head had the final say, as they took the last game through captain Iain Fish, who swept past Marvin Daniel 3–0 to make it 4-3 overall.
Next up for both teams is the last 16 KO Cup, Bulls Head facing Division 1’s Urmston Sports Club, while Excel take on Burst from Division 4.
Carters Arms 3 vs 4 Broadheath Central
Broadheath Central made it two on the bounce against Carters Arms with a close 4–3 win, which sees them third, just a point behind Ashton as sides start to jockey for the promotion spots. Broadheath also took the gallon to sit top of that particular table.
Former Broadheath player Martin Johnson opened the night for the Carters with a 3–2 win over Dan Cross, landing seven tons to grind out a tight 3-2 win to put the home side ahead, and it was 2-0 to the hosts as captain Gavin Halton followed up with a 3–0 sweep of Sam McCallister. In game 3 Brandon Lawley continued to show his qualitypulling one back with a 3-1 defeat of John Thierens Snr, piling in eight 100+ scores in the process.
A shock was on the cards as game 4 saw John Thierens Jnr edge Jordan Woodbridge 3–1 to make it 3–1 for the home side, but that would be the last point of the night for the Carters. Tom McGiveron pulled one back for Broadheath with a 3–1 win over Phil Laws, and JonJo Devon levelled the match by beating Harry Mitchell 3–1.
With the match now tied, Broadheath’s ginger prince Leyton Jackson stepped up in the decider and saw off Dave Sills 3–1, securing the win for and capping off a strong comeback.
Broadheath now face a KO Cup last 16 fixture with Division 4 leaders Wythenshawe CSC, while the Carters host a KO Shield Last 16 match against the Jolly Butcher.
Division 3
Buck Inn-eers consolidate top spot in Division 3 after a solid 5-2 win against the Horseshoe, but Dog and Partridge are on good form recently and sit just a point behind after a 6-1 defeat of bottom placed Jolly Butcher. Long time leaders the Vine suffered a third defeat in four games after a shock 4-3 reverse to Old Market Tavern, and Bent Brook claimed a 4-3 away win at LMRCA.

LMRCA 3 vs 4 Bent Brook
Bent Brook edged out LMRCA in a tight contest that went down to the final leg of the night at the Railway Club, taking the gallon 2–0 and grinding out a narrow 4–3 win to avenge their 5-2 defeat in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago.
Paul Charnock gave the visitors the ideal start with a 2–0 win over Ciaran Algar, and Sean Digan doubled the lead with a second 2–0 win — this time over Tony Feesey. Tony Spilsbury got LMRCA on the board in Game 3 with a 2–0 win over Alex Morton, and Simon Craig pushed hard in game 4 in the next but was edged 2–1 by Sam Oldham who put the Brook 3-1 up and on the brink of victory.
LMRCA’s Joe Davis kept things alive in Game 5, beating Connor O’Toole 2–1 and hitting four 100+ scores to bring it to 3–2, and the sides were level after Ron Cooke followed up with another 2–1 win, this time over Jake Proctor.
That left it to Game 7, where Ryan Smith closed it out for Bent Brook with a 2–1 win over Dave Brooks. Smith hit two tons to Brooks’ three in a nervy finish that could’ve gone either way, but it was the Brook with the bragging rights this time around and they consolidate fifth place, five points behind their beaten opponents.
Next up for the Bent Brook is a KO Shield last 16 clash with Division 1’s Victoria Burnage, while LMRCA, who lost in the KO shield prelim to the Bent Brook will have a week off before a trip to the Jolly Butcher on the 23rd July.
Old Market Tavern 4 vs 3 The Vine
Two weeks previously, The Vine recorded a commanding 6-1 home win against the Old Market Tavern, but this time around was a different story as the Altrincham side hit back on home ground with a hard-fought 4–3 win. The visitors did have the consolation of winning the gallon at the start of the night, but the night belonged to the Old Market Tavern who record only their second win of the season – and against a quality side with real promotion intent this season.
The Vine started where they left off in the previous meeting and raced into a 2–0 lead with back-to-back 2–0 wins — Geoff Sanders beating Mandy Haycocks, and Kyran Eyes seeing off Alastair Pinchien.
Steven Foster stopped the slide in Game 3, edging Ryan Sanders 2–1. Foster hit two tons; with Sanders responded with three and the Tavern were on the board. Buoyed by that success, the Tavern gathered some momentum as Nathan Potts then levelled the match at 2-2 with a 2–1 win over Wayne Hough, scoring two tons in the process.
The run continued as Tavern skipper Richard Haycocks made it 3–2 to the hosts with a 2–1 win over Billy Sanders who hit a 20 dart leg in defeat, but The Vine weren’t done, Charlie Sanders drew them level again in Game 6 with a 2–0 win against Emily Haycocks, in a solid performane which included two tons and a 22-darter.
It all came down to game 7 where Les Potts edged out Josh Bailey 2–1 to seal a shock win for the home side. While three points gained means its not all doom and gloom for the Vine, the result represents a third loss in four games after looking at one stage like they were going to romp the Division. As it is, they now sit third, six points behind top placed Buck Inn-eers who they face in a fortnights time and five behind the Dog & Partridge in second.
Next up for the Old Market Tavern is a tough away fixture in the Last 16 of the KO Shield as they visit Division 1’s Royal Oak A, while The Vine have a couple of weeks off to recuperate with their KO Cup Last 16 game against the Ammies already played, and a they have a bye week before facing The Bucks in a must win game on 30th July.

Game 1 went the way of the home side as Kieran Chapman beat Joshua Craven 2–0, hitting three tons and finishing on 82 — the highest checkout of the match. The lead was short lived however, as James Abbey levelled it for Buck Inn-eers in Game 2 with a 2–1 win over Josh McQuillan, posting four 100+ scores along the way.
Game 3 saw Niall Moffatt edge the Bucks ahead for the first time with a tight 2-1 win over Ben Harrington 2–1, Harrington hit four tons to Moffatt’s none but couldn’t convert in the deciding leg. The Horseshoe soon drew level after George Moss hit back in Game 4 with a 2–0 win over George Banner, but from there, it was all Buck Inn-eers.
James Golds beat Kieran Aherne 2–0 in Game 5 with three tons to make it 3-2, and Rick Hindle sealed the match for the Buck Inn-eers with a 2–1 win over Rob Moss, adding two tons of his own and despite Moss hitting the only 180 of the night.

Jolly Butcher 1 vs 6 Dog & Partridge
Dog & Partridge made it five big wins on the trot as they improved on their recent 5-2 home win over the Jolly Butcher with a 6–1 victory away from home, also taking the gallon 2–0. Their recent run of good form sees the Didsbury side handily placed in second position in the table, just a point behind leaders the Buck Inn-eers, while the Butcher are still looking for that elusive first win of the season.
Dan Buckley kicked things off in Game 1 with a 2–0 win over Kayleigh Sweeney, hitting two tons and producing a 21-dart leg before Chris Conduit doubled the Dog’s lead when he followed up with a 2–1 win over Michael Wesemeyer in Game 2, both players landing two 100+ scores and Conduit with a 25-darter.

After Game 5 it was 5-0 as Graham Beech beat Stuart Watson 2–0, matching the team trend with two 100+ scores. Jolly Butcher got their only point of the night in Game 6, as Darren Moore beat Dog Captain Tom Spillane 2–0, hitting a 74 checkout on the way which was the best finish of the match.
But that was to be as good as it got for the home team, as the final game went 2–1 to Dog & Partridge, with Dave Cook edging Stephen Flinders 2-1 in a last leg decider.
Next up for the Dog is a KO Shield last 16 encounter with Division 4’s Cringlewood B, while the Jolly Butcher take on Division 2’s Carters Arms in the same competition.
