Metros Sports edged a closely contested away fixture at the Brooklands Tap, taking a 4–3 victory in the main game despite losing the gallon 2–1. The match saw several tight battles and some standout scoring, with both sides fighting hard right through to the decider.
Game 1 went Metros’ way as Mike Bray saw off Mike Cribbin in straight legs, and he was on good form, firing in two 100+ scores and a 54.65 average while also hitting the highest finish of the night with a tidy 94 checkout. Luke Cummins levelled things up for Brooklands Tap in Game 2, battling past Callum Medd 2–1, but Andrew Lewis restored the Metros lead in Game 3 with a 2–0 win over Gerard Gornall, notching up four 100+ visits, a 79 kill and finishing with a match-high 58.94 average.
The visitors increased their lead to 3–1 in Game 4, as Craig Wych overcame Callum Cummins 2–1, but Brooklands weren’t done yet as Eddie Clare claimed a 2–0 win over Harry Wilson in Game 5 while posting a 26-dart leg to make it 3-2. The comeback continued as the hosts then made it 3–3 in Game 6 when Jamie Williams impressed with two 100+ scores and a 67 finish while beating Wayne Billing 2-0, but with everything riding on Game 7, it was Gareth Cooke who stepped up for Metros, holding his nerve to defeat Tristan Cullen 2–1, adding four 100+ scores to seal the win for the away side. Brooklands had to settle for the gallon, but Metros left with the points.
