Roebuck 2 – 5 Ashton-on-Mersey CC
Ashton-on-Mersey CC tightened their grip on the second automatic promotion spot in Division 2 after a solid 5-2 win against bottom placed Roebuck, who despite winning the gallon, were unable to build on last weeks first league win of the season.
Kian Pearce put the visitors one up with four ton plus scores on the way to a 3–1 win over Phil Wright, but Rick Kiel soon levelled it with a 3–0 win against Ian Winter in Game 2. Mike Buckley reclaimed the lead for Ashton in Game 3 with a 180 during a 3–1 win against Hayden Reddy and Chris Chapman then extended the lead to 3-1, with a 3-1 win in a classy performance against Ste Reddy which saw him claim eight tons and a 19-dart leg to finish on a solid 67.06 average.
James Compton followed up with a 68 average in a 3–1 win against Chris Reddy in Game 5, banging in seven tons and a tidy 100 finish to give his side the win overall. With the game in the bag, Ashton’s Billy Dawson hit 5 100+ scores as he extended the lead to 5-1 with a 3–1 win over Finn Harrison, and in the final game of the night the Roebuck pulled one back as Captain Chris Haycock edged past fellow skipper Will Radcliffe 3–2. Radcliffe hit five tons and a 180, but it wasn’t enough to deny the hosts a consolation point.
The Roebuck will hope to get back to winning ways next week with a KO Shield fixture against Royal Oak B of Division 3, while Ashton will have a week off before their next league encounter with Sale Excel on the 23rd.
