It was a bumper opening week of fixtures in the South Manchester Darts League, with First division Ammies and third division LMRCA claiming the biggest wins of the week.
In this weeks rearranged fixures, we had the final three Division 1 matches of the season, and four more games in Division 3 that have helped shape the promotion picture.
For the first time since 2017-18 we have new League Champions after the title was decided in St John’s favour when they were awarded a whitewash victory as Timperley were unable to field a team.
The top two in Division 1 both secure big wins for the second week in succession in an engrossing battle for the title, while Urmston have secured promotion to Division 1 next season.
Ammies and St Johns made equal progress after whitewash wins, Urmston move within 6 points of guaranteed promotion, and its still tight for second place in Division 3.
Ammies go top again as St Johns have a week off, Urmston pass their latest test but have The Royal Oak in hot pursuit, and Ive still got no idea who goes up from Division 3 with BHC Aces.
We have new leaders in Division 1 after St Johns beat the Ammies, Urmston extend their lead in Division 2 and BHC Aces march on in Division 3.
The finalists for the cup competitions have been decided, and the KO Cup will see a repeat of the 2023 final between Victoria Withington and the Ammies, while the KO Shield will be contested between Royal Oak A and BHC Aces.
Im so late this week….. First division as you were, second sees Urmston making a strong move at the top and its anyones guess who might go up alongside BHC Aces in divsion 3
KO Cup holders Timperley are out of this seasons competition after a narrow Quarter Final loss to last seasons runners up, and three of this seasons new teams reach the semi final draw of the KO Shield.
On the week that the league remembers Chris Hibbert, there was a big win for Timperley sees them close the gap to The Ammies slightly, The Division 2 battle gets even more intense, and in general – there were far too many last leg deciders to count.
Ammies survive a scare but win again, the top three in Divison 2 all win big, and The Cringlewood and Old Market Tavern secure their first wins of the 2024-25 season.
As we reach the half-way point of the season, Timperley take a blow to their Division 1 title hopes, 5 points seperate the top 5 in Division 2, and BHC Aces unbeaten run in Division 3 is now over.
Week 10 was catchup week for Division’s 1 & 2 with rescheduled games from Week 1 taking place.
Division 1 The battle for Division 1 is starting to take shape now, with the three teams at the top having six wins and one
Ammies extend their lead in the top flight, Division 2 continues to be tight, while the only thing tight in Division 3 at the moment is the battle for second place.
Ammies consolidate top spot with Timperely in hot pursuit, Div 2 looks as tight as the proverbial fishes arse, while Broadheath Central Aces are starting to look odds on in Div 3.
Ammies regain top spot, but Timperley are still the only side remaining with a perfect record this season.
Only three teams (one in each division) remain unbeaten this season, and unsurprisingly each one sits proudly at the the top of the table.
The leaders in each Division are starting to establish themselves, while a few teams are still looking for that elusive first win.
