Burst 4–3 Sale Excel

Division 4 Burst edged a nail‑biter against Division 2 opponents Sale Excel to squeeze into the cup quarter‑finals in their very first season, coming from behind late on to snatch the win.

Game one saw the Excel take the lead – but it was a tight tussle as Warren McCoubrey nicked a 3–2 win against Mike Westlake, despite Westlake hitting five tons and an 18 darter in defeat. Game two was more straightforward as Pete Foxley put Sale Excel two up, beating Lindsay Rice 3–0.

Burst needed a lift and got one in game three when Jack Newsham scraped past Ryan Potts 3–2 despite Potts hitting four tons and a 21 darter. Any hopes of a surge were stalled in game four as Andy Cheetham hit five tons  while taking out Ray Townhill 3–0, to make it 3–1 overall to Excel.

From there, Burst dug deep. Rory Sullivan battled past Danny Chua 3–2 in game five to keep them alive, then Jimmy Murphy levelled the match by beating Hannah Tague 3–0, finding a neat 80 finish along the way. It all came down to game seven, where Mckenzie Evans saw off Marvin Daniel 3–2 with four tons, sparking big celebrations as Burst sealed the 4–3 victory.
