St Anthonys A squeezed through to the KO Shield quarter-finals after a nail-biting 4–3 win over a determined Horseshoe side who pushed them all the way to a deciding game.
The Saints took early control with back-to-back 2–1 wins: Dom Batty hit a 180 while overcoming Rob Moss in a tight opener, before Shaun Gill followed up with a classy average of 71.57 in his 2-0 win over Kieran Aherne, but the tide quickly turned.
Josh McQuillan and Karl Jones both delivered 2–0 wins, over Gary Molloy and Ryan Bailey respectively, to bring the tie level at 2–2, before Mark Corrigan nudged the home side ahead again, after beating Oscar Coutts 2–1 despite Coutts firing in three tons. Horseshoe weren’t done — Ben Harrington hit back with a 2-0 defeat of Ian Paton in game six to level things once more, which meant it all came down to the last game of the night.
Fittingly it also went down to the final leg of the night, and it was St Anthonys Carl Paton who stepped up when it mattered to seal his teams passage to the quarter finals, landing five 100+ scores and a 20-dart leg in a 2–1 win over George Moss.
