Division 2’s Roebuck held off a spirited fight from Division 3’s Royal Oak B to secure a narrow 4–3 win and passage to the quarter-finals of the KO Shield.

Things looked straightforward early on as the hosts stormed into a 2–0 lead, with Ste Reddy beating Mark Gilmore and Chris Haycock seeing off Jack Holt — both 2–1. But the Oak weren’t going quietly.

Pete DeCordova hit back with a 2–0 win over Chris Reddy, and Jaydon Strong levelled the tie at 2–2 by defeating Hayden Reddy in game four. With momentum swinging, Roebuck regained control as Rick Kiel beat Rory Pessagno 2-1 in game five, but again, Royal Oak B responded — this time through Andrew Mossop, who posted the highest finish of the match with a 94 checkout in a 2–0 win over Ash Aikenhead to take it to a decider.

With the tie locked at 3–3, it was Phil Wright who stepped up to seal it for the hosts, delivering a 2–0 win over Jack Bushell and pointing the Roebuck in the direction of the last eight.

A cracking back-and-forth cup tie — and a reminder that there’s little to separate sides when the pressure’s on.
