Volunteer 2–5 Ammies Darts
The Ammies claimed a valuable 5–2 win away at Volunteer to stay top of the table by two points from the unbeaten St Anthonys B.
The visitors were quickest out of the blocks and claimed a 2–0 lead with back-to-back 3–0 wins. Ewan Donegan opened the night with a 61.77 average and a 20-dart leg in his shutout of Toni Williams, before Paul Devine lit things up in game two with an 18-darter, six tons, and a 101 checkout — finishing with a tidy 68.32 average.
The Volunteer have proved to be a solid side this season, and after Tony Grinnell beat Callum Nolan 3–1, and Karl Bannister claimed a win over Kyle Bell in another 3–1, the two sides were soon level at 2–2.
But from there the Ammies took control again. Mike Morrison was in merciless form, landing a 77.16 average and an 18-darter in a 3–1 win over Gary Williams, who had hit a 20 dart leg and thrown seven tons in defeat, while Adam Watson followed with a clinical 3–0 over Dan O’Donnell, including a 97 finish, a 20-darter, and a 70+ average.
At 4-2 the match was won, but Pete Watson added a touch of gloss with a 3–0 victory against James Roberts in the final game of the evening.
